| Description | |

From the designer:
Materials: walnut wood, cherry wood A mysterious puzzle box sits before you, the top opens but the drawer is locked fast. Strange markings adorn the box. There are a pair of dials on each side with more odd symbols. The top has a rotating circle inside of another ring of symbols. How can you open the drawer? There must be some meaning to the markings on the box. Perhaps they work with the wheel on the top to help you set the dials correctly? This item is the beginning of my journey into making a new style of puzzle boxes. I want to create pieces which invite the user to interact with them and which present puzzles to solve. The solution to the puzzle is on the box. This is a single lock box since there is only one puzzle to solve to open it. This box makes a great discussion item for a living or family room - just sit back and watch guests try to solve it. It’s also great for storing special items. It would be a perfect addition to your next gaming night for keeping that special set of cards safe. These boxes are completely hand made. The symbols and the cipher wheel on the top are all wood burned by hand as well. Cherry is used for the bulk of the box with walnut for the accents. The drawer is poplar and the divider and bottoms are birch plywood. The cherry version of the box will darken with age - it’s a natural process for cherry and is what makes that species of wood look so good. These boxes should be stored out of direct sunlight as that can fade both the wood’s color and the wood burned symbols. All boxes are signed and numbered. Each box is about 12” long, 8 1/2” deep, 7" high and weighs about 5 lbs. The upper compartment is about 8 3/4” wide, 7” deep and 1 3/4” high. The drawer (once you get it open!) is roughly 7 3/4” wide, 6 1/4” deep and 2 1/2” high. |
