WARNING! This version of Red Treasure is not the same as the normal puzzle! It is extra difficult! There are two extra difficult sections in this puzzle that are more difficult to solve. One of these is an added dexterity challenge which frustrated the hell out of some of the playtesters (No worry, it is not a maze). The second change is a visual hint that is absent, making a specific step way harder to figure out yourself. The solve of the puzzle is the same, so you can always ask someone who has the normal version of the puzzle for a hint.

Just like the Purple and Red versions of Red Treasure, this is a limited edition. There are 30 Black Red Treasures (numbered 175 to 204). I am not planning on making more Red Treasures in the future. This is probably the last Batch for this puzzle.

Red treasure is a difficult puzzle with lots of things to discover. I started working on this puzzle box while assembling Castle Emberlock puzzles. I tried my best to capture the feeling of Emberlock inside a smaller format. I’m personally quite happy how it turned out.

I think I would rank this puzzle with an 8/9 out of 10 difficulty. Most playtesters took between 2 to 6 hours to solve this puzzle. I always find it hard to count the amount of steps it takes to solve a puzzle, but if you ask me, Red Treasure takes 25 steps to solve. The puzzle is fully solved when you know why the puzzle is called Red Treasure. No banging or hitting is needed to solve the puzzle.

Red treasure is 130x80x93mm. The puzzle is numbered and has its production number on the inside.

I asked one of the playtesters to write about their experience: “Red Treasure is packed with puzzle elements. It reminded me of solving Castle Emberlock, with lots of clever mechanisms and tricks to uncover. It even feels like it offers more puzzles relative to its size. Every square inch is used, which makes it feel like there is more puzzle inside this treasure chest than it has any right to have. All in all, I felt like a very smart pirate on an amazing, yet complicated, treasure hunt.”

WARNING! One of the playtesters was stuck at a specific point and resorted to asking for a hint. It turned out he lost a small part because he was solving the puzzle on a couch. SO WARNING! This puzzle contains small parts!

Red Treasure is a sequential discovery puzzle box with a lot of steps. Even experienced puzzlers will likely need at least a couple of hours to uncover all it’s secrets. So why is it called Red Treasure?
