When making burrnovas over many months Jerry kept thinking there must be a way to make a 3D version of burrnova, after about 6 months when he was in church the way to do it came to him and he left the church with the idea in his head. He immediately made a glued up arrangement of the way the stepped pieces could work in 3D and the setup of the pieces looked good. He was so obsessed with the idea that he stopped all work on burrnovas to create a prototype of burrnova 3D. It was quite time consuming getting a first prototype puzzle done but it worked out great so Jerry started making burrnova 3D’s and it won a design competition award at the IPP in San Diego 2018
